Groups Sue AGF Over Removal of CCT Chairman Amid Controversy Over Appointment Process.

Civil society organizations have sued President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Attorney-General of the Federation Lateef Fagbemi, and Senate President Godswill Akpabio over the removal of CCT chair Afolabi Ijelunmi. The groups are seeking redress for what they claim is an unconstitutional act.
A group of civil society organizations has filed a lawsuit against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Attorney-General of the Federation Lateef Fagbemi, and Senate President Godswill Akpabio, over the removal of the Chairman of the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT), Dr. Abba Daba Ajoose, from office. The plaintiffs claim that the removal was unlawful and in contravention of the law. They also allege that the actions taken by Tinubu, Fagbemi, and Akpabio are an attempt to undermine the independence of the judiciary. The lawsuit seeks to quash the removal order and restore Dr. Ajoose to his position as CCT chairman.
