Nigerians Get Power to Regulate Electricity Sector After NERC Transfer

Nigeria's NERC has granted power to Niger state to regulate its own electricity sector, transferring oversight from the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission to the Niger State Electricity Regulatory Commission.
The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has formally handed over the responsibility for regulating the electricity sector in Niger State to the newly established Niger State Electricity Regulatory Commission (NSERC). As a result, NSERC will now oversee and manage all aspects of the state's electricity market, marking an important shift in governance. This transfer is aimed at improving the efficiency and reliability of power supply services in Niger State.
