The National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) has urged President Tinubu to ensure that cabals do not derail the implementation of financial autonomy granted to local governments by the Supreme Court in 2022. The Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) has urged Governor Bola Tinubu to prevent cabals from undermining the autonomy granted to local governments six months ago by the Supreme Court. The judgment, which was upheld in June 2023, gave local governments control over their revenues and finances, a significant development aimed at boosting their operational capacities. However, despite this milestone, Sunday Punch reports that the implementation of the judgment remains stalled. NULGE is calling on Tinubu to ensure that local governments are able to manage their resources effectively without external interference or manipulation.
