The Iranian government has sought to minimize its role, instead focusing on humanitarian efforts and calling for a ceasefire. Iran has maintained that it is providing support to the Houthis solely to protect civilians from Saudi aggression. Despite this, analysts suggest Iran may be using the Houthis to pressure neighboring countries and expand its regional influence.
