Mahrez double propels Algeria to dominant 3-0 win over Sudan in AFCON opener
Algeria's Riyad Mahrez scored twice and set up another goal as they beat Sudan 3-0 in their AFCON 2025 opener. The 2019 champions dominated a 10-man Sudan side to ease into the tournament.

Captain Riyad Mahrez scored twice and created another for Algeria as they dominated Sudan in their opening 2025 Africa Cup of Nations match, winning 3-0 despite the hosts being a man down from the start. Mahrez's first goal came after a Sudansian foul inside their own half before he doubled his tally midway through the second half. The Algerians added a third in the final minutes to seal a comfortable victory.
