Many Credit Card Issuers Ditch SSNs for New Verification Methods

Some credit card issuers are now approving applicants without requiring a Social Security Number, instead accepting alternative identification such as an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number, a passport, or proof of income, to combat scammers who previously relied on SSNs for fraudulent purposes.
