Rick Scott Backs Fellow Republican, Byron Donalds, in Florida Gubernatorial Bid
Sen. Rick Scott has endorsed Rep. Byron Donalds in his bid for Florida governor, a move seen as backing Trump's preferred candidate.
Senator Rick Scott has endorsed Republican Rep. Byron Donalds in his Florida gubernatorial bid, citing a shared commitment to conservative values and policies that align with those of former President Trump. This endorsement comes as a nod to Donalds' connection to the Trump-backed candidate for governor, marking a key moment in the campaign's final stretch. The move is seen as significant, given Scott's stature within the Republican Party in Florida, where he previously served as governor before being succeeded by Ron DeSantis.
