Stewart Warns: Will Trump's Lawsuit Be Insurance for Burning Country Down?
Jon Stewart expresses worry that a potential legal victory by Donald Trump over CBS News could lead to him 'burn[ing] our country down for insurance money.' He raises concerns about Trump's motivations and the consequences of a favorable ruling in his lawsuit against CBS.
Jon Stewart expressed concern that a potential outcome of the Trump administration's lawsuit against CBS News could be the end of his show, 'The Daily Show', and also harm to the country as a whole. He asked if Donald Trump would burn the country down for insurance money in an apparent reference to the lawsuit. The comments came amid a heated exchange between Stewart and Trump over a 2004 court case related to 9/11 first responders. A ruling in favor of CBS News could have serious implications for journalists and whistleblowers.
